I am an experienced psychologist with 13 years experience in private practice. Consultations are provided in Rose Bay.

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and after completing my undergraduate and honours degrees in South Africa, completed psychology registration in Australia. I am also an AHPRA accredited supervisor and supervise provisional psychologists for the 4+2 and 5+1 programs.

In the last 13 years, I have worked in private practice with many patients from all walks of life and this has provided me with experience into the variety of problems that people face. These include; anxiety and depression, stress, interpersonal issues, grief and loss, addiction, mental health issues, anger, work issues, problems with performance in exams or other areas, personality problems, sleep problems and many others.

Besides private practice, I have worked in community health and health promotion and run a business. I have taught at all levels from children to tertiary level and adult education. I have an interest in the anxiety disorders, but in fact, anxiety often occurs together with many of the other problems that people present with. It is normal and natural for every one of us to feel anxious at times. However, severe anxiety is extremely debilitating and affects quality of life. This, of course, can be true of other mental health problems as well.

My approach towards my clients is extremely respectful and empathic. I come from an evidence-based focus. This means that I use strategies that have a research base and have been shown to be effective. I am mainly a cognitive behavioural psychologist. That means that I help people to change unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours. As each person is an individual, the therapy is largely adapted to what I believe will work best.

I use Clinical Hypnosis for those who would like to experience it and other therapies and strategies as necessary. I provide a discrete and confidential service.

In short, what I provide is:

  • Respectful therapy tailored to your needs
  • Discretion, privacy and confidentiality
  • An approach based on what the research shows works best
  • Help with most mental health issues
